A successful weekend for Rosland Gold Racing with both drivers doing well, including James Kellett getting his 4th win of the season. It was a P1 & P3 for James Kellett whilst teammate Josh Malin got P4 in each race.
With James Kellett upset with his qualifying time that he felt he could’ve bettered by half a second had traffic not hindered him, he started Race One in P4. A decent start and the chase was on, working up to P2. Josh was following in P3, catching both of them after getting past Charles Rainford. But great defending by Adam Smalley saw James unable to get to P1 until a couple of laps from the end where the pressure applied saw Adam go wide on the final turn and both James and Josh went through for what would be a P1 & P2 for Rosland Gold. Alas, despite a lap to go, the rain caught out Josh on that final lap as he went wide as well but he managed to hold the car and get back on to come in P4. So a P1 & P4 for Rosland Gold in Race One.
With James pulling out the 4-ball, James started Race 2 as P4 and Josh Malin started on Pole. A great start saw the positions stay as was and Josh pulling away from the others. But after half a dozen laps with Josh still leading a fellow driver struck the chicane and dumped his radiator contents all the way down the Melbourne loop and hairpin, Josh was next to meet the hazard on the following lap – locking up at the hairpin on the slippery liquid, as did Adam Smalley in P2. Josh went wide whilst Adam proceeded to hold on and stay on the track and proceed to take lead going back up to the last corner of that lap. The race continued, with Josh coming back on in the P6 position, but excellent driving saw him get up to P4 and complete the race’s fastest lap. Excellent. Meanwhile James Kellett in P3 was climbing all over Will Martin who was in P2 but he just couldn’t get past him. It was very good defending by Charles. The race finished with James at P3 and Josh in P4. Josh was very upset at the unlucky mishap and an extra spin but taking two x P4 when you’ve only done a few rounds in the championship is very good driving.
So it’s onwards to Silverstone in 3 weeks!
